Top 10 most powerful people in the world



It is very difficult to analyze and categorize the most powerful people on earth at the moment but based on the amount of human, financial resources and influential on people that they have sway over, as well as their influence on world events, I came out with the following.


    1. Vladimir Putin 


Vladimir Putin born 7 October 1952 in Leningrad in the Soviet Union. He studied law at the Saint Petersburg State University, graduating in 1975.Putin was a KGB foreign intelligence officer for 16 years, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before retiring in 1991. He is a Russian politician serving currently as President of the Russian Federation since 7 May 2012, previously holding the position from 2000 until 2008.He was Prime Minister of the Russian Federation from 1999 until 2000, and again from 2008 until 2012.During his second term as Prime Minister, he was the chairman of the ruling United Russia party.This is the man who does what he wants and gets away with impunity.


 He has the strength and the capacity to exercise that power, unilaterally, unconstrained by other institutions, parties and political forces and also knows how to use power asymmetrically, with cyber tools and disinformation.

He is a controversial person that almost all the world leaders don’t know him. All this and some other qualities not mentioned put him on the number one spot on my list.


   2. Donald J. Trump 


Trump was born on June 14, 1946 in Queens,New York City and earned a degree in economics from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is the 45th and current President of the United States. He took over running his family's real estate business in 1971, renamed it The Trump Organization, and expanded it to involve constructing and renovating skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses. Trump also started various side ventures, including branding and licensing his name for real estate and luxury consumer products. He managed the company until his 2017 inauguration. Trump also gained prominence in the media and entertainment fields. He co-authored several books, including The Art of the Deal, and from 2003 to 2015 he was a producer and the host of The Apprentice, a reality television game show. Trump owned the Miss Universe and Miss USA beauty pageants from 1996 to 2015. According to Forbes magazine, he was the world's 544th richest person as of May 2017, with an estimated net worth of $3.5 billion.

Trump is known for his “dare devil” spirit and his determination to succeed at whatever he started no matter the cost. Base country, economy and military power He is number two on my list.


    3. Angela Merkel


Angela Dorothea Merkel born 17 July 1954  in Hamburg in then-West Germany and moved to East Germany as an infant when her father, a Lutheran clergyman, received a pastorate in Perleberg. She obtained a doctorate in quantum chemistry in 1986 and worked as a research scientist until 1989. She entered politics in the wake of the Revolutions of 1989, and briefly served as a deputy spokesperson for the first democratically elected East German Government headed by Lothar de Maizière in 1990. Following German reunification in 1990, She was elected to the Bundestag for the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and has been reelected ever since. She is a German politician serving as Chancellor of Germany since 2005 and leader of the centre-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) since 2000. On 24 October 2017 she and her Cabinet continue as the acting government until a new government is formed.She has been widely described as the de facto leader of the European Union, the most powerful woman in the world, and the leader of the Free World.

She is the most dominant woman in the world of 2018.In 2007, Merkel became the 2nd woman to become president of the European Council. she was the chairperson of G8. Merkel played a critical role in negotiations regarding the Treaty of Libson.She Single-handedly offered solutions to problems faced by her constituents. Merkel has managed to take her country through a recession. She provided credit facilities for those companies cutting hours for employees. She also convinced Greece and Spain to consider Germans’ fiscal and legal logic. Recently, she opened the German borders that allowed over 1 million immigrants from Syria and other Muslim nations. This humanitarian act has earned her accolades placing her on my number three.


    4. Pope Francis 


Pope Francis born in in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 17 December 1936. He worked briefly as a chemical technologist and nightclub bouncer before beginning seminary studies. He was ordained a Catholic priest in 1969, and from 1973 to 1979 was Argentina's provincial superior of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). He became the Archbishop of Buenos Aires in 1998 and was made a cardinal in 2001 by Pope John Paul II. Following the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI on 28 February 2013, a papal conclave elected Bergoglio as his successor on 13 March. He is the 266th and current Pope of the Catholic Church, a title he holds ex officio as Bishop of Rome, and sovereign of Vatican City. He chose Francis as his papal name in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi. Francis is the first Jesuit pope, the first from the Americas, the first from the Southern Hemisphere, and the first pope from outside Europe since the Syrian Gregory III, who reigned in the 8th century.

He led the Argentine Church during the December 2001 riots in Argentina, and the administrations of Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Fernández de Kirchner considered him a political rival.Pope Francis has been noted for his humility, emphasis on God's mercy, concern for the poor and commitment to interfaith dialogue. Pope Francis efforts to change the face of the Roman Catholic Church are notable. He attended Congress in the US to address the issues of climate change and immigration. Also, he spoke about the fate of Christians and non-Christians suffering in the Middle East. He has also visited inmates in a Philadelphia. Also, he went to console the victims of priestly sexual abuse. He is humble and has great compassion for the poor. He also fights for human rights especially the women’s rights. He ranked number four on my list.


    5. Xi Jinping 


 Xi Jinping born 15 June 1953. Xi Jinping is the first General Secretary to have been born after the Second World War. The son of Chinese Communist veteran Xi Zhongxun, Xi rose through the ranks politically in China's coastal provinces. Xi was governor of Fujian from 1999 to 2002, and governor, then party secretary of neighboring Zhejiang province from 2002 to 2007. Following the dismissal of Chen Liangyu, Xi was transferred to Shanghai as party secretary for a brief period in 2007. Xi joined the Politburo Standing Committee and central secretariat in October 2007, spending the next five years as Hu Jintao's presumed successor. Xi was vice president from 2008 to 2013 and Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission from 2010 to 2012. He is a Chinese politician currently serving as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission. He holds the top offices of the party and the military, in addition to being the head of state through the office of the president, he is sometimes referred to as China's "paramount leader" in 2016, the party officially gave him the title of "core" leader. As General Secretary, Xi holds an ex-officio seat on the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China, China's top decision-making body.

Xi has introduced far-ranging measures to enforce party discipline and to ensure internal unity. His signature anti-corruption campaign led to the downfall of prominent incumbent and retired officials. He has called for further market economic reforms, for governing according to the law and for strengthening legal institutions, with an emphasis on individual and national aspirations under the slogan "Chinese Dream". Additionally, he is bold enough to allow the media to capture some of his daily activities. During his leadership, China has investments in almost all part of the world. His meeting with the US and UK leaders led to business deals worth $46 billion. All this makes him fit in my number five post .


    6. Janet Yellen  


Janet Louise Yellen born August 13, 1946. She is an American economist. Yellen was born to a Polish Jewish family in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Anna (née Blumenthal) and Julius Yellen, a physician. She graduated from Fort Hamilton High School in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn and Pembroke College in Brown University ..with a degree in economics in 1967 and She received her Ph.D. in economics from Yale University in 1971. She served as the Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System from 2014–2018, previously serving as Vice Chair from 2010 to 2014. Previously, she was President and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco; Chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers under President Bill Clinton; and business professor at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business.

Yellen was nominated by President Obama to succeed Ben Bernanke as Chairwoman of the United States Federal Reserve. On January 6, 2014, the U.S. Senate confirmed Yellen's nomination.She was sworn in on February 3, 2014, making her the first woman to hold the position. She rank number six on my list.


    7. Bill Gates 


William Henry Gates III born October 28, 1955. He is an American business magnate, investor, author, philanthropist, humanitarian, and principal founder of the Microsoft Corporation.During his career at Microsoft, Gates held the positions of chairman, CEO and chief software architect, while also being the largest individual shareholder until May 2014. During his career at Microsoft, he has assumed charitable acts. He has donated large sums of money. Bill gate is the world's richest man, Bill Gates launched Microsoft 40 years ago with Paul Allen. He ranked number seven on my list.


    8. Larry Page 


Lawrence Edward Page born March 26, 1973) is an American computer scientist and Internet entrepreneur who co-founded Google with Sergey Brin. Page is the chief executive officer (CEO) of Google's parent company, Alphabet Inc. After stepping aside as Google CEO in August 2001, in favor of Eric Schmidt, he re-assumed the role in April 2011. He announced his intention to step aside a second time in July 2015, to become CEO of Alphabet, under which Google's assets would be reorganized. Under Page, Alphabet is seeking to deliver major advancements in a variety of industries.As of February 16, 2018, Page was the ninth-richest person in the world, with a net worth of $51 billion. He ranked number eight on my list.


    9. Narendra Damodardas Modi 


Born on 17 September 1950. Born to a Gujarati family in Vadnagar, Modi helped his father sell tea as a child, and later ran his own stall. He was introduced to the RSS at the age of eight, beginning a long association with the organisation. He left home after graduating from school, partly because of an arranged marriage which he rejected.He is an Indian politician who is the 16th and current Prime Minister of India, in office since May 2014. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014, and is the Member of Parliament for Varanasi. Modi, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is a Hindu nationalist and member of the right-wing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He is on my number eight.


    10. Mark Zuckerberg  


Mark Elliot Zuckerberg born May 14, 1984. He is an American computer programmer and Internet entrepreneur. He is a co-founder of Facebook, and currently operates as its chairman and chief executive officer. He also owns WhatsApp, Wirehog, Beacon, Platform and Facebook Connect.His net worth is estimated to be US $72.4 billion as of February 14, 2018. He ranked number ten on my list .
